Students

Were You Attending School in Lower Manhattan Between September 11, 2001 and May 30, 2002?

The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) provides tax-free awards to students who attended school south of Canal Street from September 11, 2001 to May 30, 2002, and who now or since then have been diagnosed with cancer, any breathing disorders, or digestive problems. Our 9/11 lawyers at Turley Hansen & Rosasco, LLP have represented many students. At first, many students do not even know they were eligible for VCF cancer payouts or awards of any kind from the VCF. This includes students who were attending either Downtown Manhattan schools or universities.

We won $872,000 in a VCF cancer payout for a student who had been attending New York University at the time of the 9/11 attacks.

Unfortunately, years later, our client was diagnosed with rectal cancer caused by the exposure to various dust and toxins (including asbestos) in the air after 9/11.These kinds of cases are unfortunately becoming more common, as time passes and illnesses among the wide population of students who were exposed increases.
