You simply had to be in Lower Manhattan any time between 9/11 and May 30, 2002. In fact, it is estimated that over 400,000 "non-first responders" were exposed to the toxic air that engulfed downtown New York City. These include:
The federal government has set aside $10 billion, enough money to compensate ALL who were exposed to the toxic air after the government told everyone the air was safe and it was OK to return to Lower Manhattan after 9/11. The truth was that the air was poisonous. The government now agrees that this toxic air causes over 70 types of cancer, respiratory and digestive conditions. To date, over 100,000 individuals have become ill or died due to the toxic exposure.

We were there when the Twin Towers fell. We remember the thick dust cloud that hung in the air and the toxic jet fuel fires that burned 24/7 for weeks. That very October, we took our first case on a pro bono basis. It was for a family who lost their 22-year-old son when the North Tower came down. He worked at the Windows on the World Restaurant on the 107th floor. His mother worked for a financial institution on a floor below and had helped him get the job at the restaurant. She got out of the building and to safety before the building fell. Her young son did not. Our 9/11 lawyer met with the mother who was devastated by survivor guilt for both getting her son the job in the restaurant and getting out herself. After hearing that story, and successfully getting her family compensation, we knew that helping 9/11 victims was a calling, not just the practice of an area of law.
Since that day, our lawyers have led the way in helping 9/11 victims and their families. Hansen & Rosasco has represented thousands of 9/11 victims and recovered millions of dollars for our clients from the 9/11 VCF. We know the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund claims back and forth. We are a large enough law firm to get you maximum compensation from the VCF, but small enough to care.
The 9/11 lawyers at Hansen & Rosasco, LLP have dedicated much of their long careers to representing the 9/11 community. It is these individuals — who returned to lower Manhattan after the government told them the air was safe when it was not — who motivate our team of lawyers to make sure that everyone whose life was impacted by 9/11 gets the maximum 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund payment and healthcare they deserve.
“I want to extend my most sincere thank you to the team at Hansen and Rosasco. Troy and Sam threw me a life vest when I needed it most. I really do not know where I would be now without their help.”
“From the first phone call to the final settlement every facet of my case was handled discretely and professionally. There was always someone there to answer your questions and guide you through the necessary procedures resulting in a very satisfying outcome. Use Hansen and Rosasco, you won't be disappointed.”
“Hansen and Rosasco has been hands down an excellent firm to work with. Many times clients become a file number, but this firm must take great pride and invest in their staff. We had the honor of working with Lourdes and it was an absolute pleasure! She is personable, caring, and extremely efficient. She always responded so quickly to any questions and assisted us every step of the way with regards to a 9/11 claim. "
