9/11 VCF Names New Director of Communications and External Affairs
Today, the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund named Anthony Gardner as Director of Communications and External Affairs. This is a new position which was created after the passage of the “Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11 Victim Compensation Act.” “Anthony’s depth of knowledge and his relationships within the 9/11 community, along with his exceptional communication skills and professional experience, present the VCF with an outstanding opportunity to focus on this vital outreach,” said the Fund.
“The VCF has done the 9/11 community a tremendous service today. Anthony will be a huge asset in getting out the word about the availability of both compensation and free medical care from the Fund and the WTC Health Program. I offer him any assistance I can provide in his new position,” said Phil Alvarez, the brother of the late NYPD Detective Luis Alvarez, after whom the Act is partially named. Phil also serves as Director of 9/11 Outreach & Education for the 9/11 law firm of Hansen & Rosasco, LLP.
The Fund announced that Mr. Gardner will concentrate on expanding the VCF’s outreach efforts. This will include developing a strategy to build broader awareness and understanding of the VCF. It will also involve working with the World Trade Center Health Program and various 9/11 advocacy groups. Mr. Gardner will work with different entities to establish relationships which focus on easing the burden on claimants when filing a claim, as well as developing new outreach materials and enhanced public messaging. Mr. Gardner most recently served as Senior Vice President of Government and Community Affairs at the National September 11th Memorial and Museum, and he has worked on 9/11-related issues since 2001. Mr. Gardner will be based in the VCF’s New York Office.Posted under: The Victims' Compensation Fund
