Work With a Zadroga Act Lawyer to Determine if You Are Eligible for 9/11 Victim Compensation

The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act of 2015 (the Zadroga Act) is a federal law that extended the main two 9/11 benefit programs: (1) The World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP), and (2) The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF). The VCF provides for financial award to all qualified individuals who have been diagnosed with various cancers and other illnesses in the wake of 9/11. Here you will find information to help you determine if you are eligible to file a claim under the Victim Compensation Fund. Zadroga Act – 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund Awards

Under the VCF, eligible victims are entitled to a money award of compensation for both their “economic” and “non-economic” losses. Money awards for economic losses include things like lost earnings and benefits, past out-of-pocket medical bills and expenses, and other expenses caused by condition related to the Sept. 11th attacks. The non-economic benefits awards by the VCF cover losses for pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment, and diminished quality of life. VCF awards include payments for not only past losses, but also future suffering and losses such as future lost earnings and benefits for anyone unable to work due to a 9/11-related disease or condition.

Who Is Eligible?

In order to qualify for compensation under the Victim Compensation Fund, you must satisfy two main requirements: (1) you must have “proof of presence” in the World Trade Center “crash site area,” and (2) you must have a cancer or other medical condition that is potentially related to your exposure to the toxic dust released when the towers fell. Responders, residents, workers, students and visitors may all be eligible for a VCF award.
