9/11 Survivors, Downtown Workers and Residents

In addition to First Responders, many others individuals are eligible to receive compensation under the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, including:

  • Survivors from the original attacks and the immediate aftermath
  • Survivors caught in the World Trade Center toxic “dust cloud”
  • Financial Services employees in the Wall Street area and surrounding community
  • Office workers in the downtown area below Canal Street in lower Manhattan
  • Workers such as salespeople, account managers, truck drivers, delivery people, and all others who went to lower Manhattan at any time in 2001 or 2002
  • Downtown building cleaners
  • Downtown building maintenance workers
  • Downtown construction workers
  • Downtown area restaurant and hotel workers
  • Downtown retail store workers
  • Downtown visitors
  • Downtown tourists
  • Residents or tenants in the downtown area below Canal street in lower Manhattan, including Chinatown, Battery Park City, City Hall area, the Smith Houses, Confucius Plaza, Knickerbocker Village, Tribeca, the Lower East Side, or the Financial District
  • Students at the elementary or high school in the area below Canal Street in lower Manhattan including Stuyvesant, Millennium High School, and others
  • Students at a college in the area below Canal Street in lower Manhattan such as BMCC, Pace University, Mildred Elley College, New York Career Institute, Metropolitan College
