9/11 Liver Cancer Compensation Claims

Liver cancer is disproportionately diagnosed in the 9/11 first responders, downtown NYC residents, workers, and students.  Anyone who lived, worked, or went to school anywhere in lower Manhattan on or after 9/11 and has since been diagnosed with liver cancer may be eligible for lifetime 9/11-related healthcare and a significant compensation ($250,000-plus, tax-free) from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund

Our Zadroga Act lawyers secured $1.0 Million for a NYC Fire Department EMT who had WTC-related liver cancer.

WHY YOU NEED A 9/11 LAWYER

The Link Between 9/11 and Liver Disease and Cancer

The dust and fumes from 9/11 exposed hundreds of thousands to a range of harmful substances known to cause liver toxicity. Decades of research have shown those individuals – first responders and downtown workers, residents and students alike – have an increased risk of liver diseases including hepatic steatosis, toxicant-associated fatty liver disease (TAFLD), cirrhosis, and liver cancer.

WTC Health Program Treatment Options for Liver Cancer and Disease

The WTCHP was specifically designed to address the unique health challenges that 9/11 survivors and responders faced in the aftermath of 9/11. There are multiple World Trade Center Health Program Clinical Centers of Excellence (CCE)  throughout the New York area, and a Nationwide Provider Network to provide care for members outside the area. These clinics offer a range of medical services that are essential for both the early detection and effective treatment of 9/11-related conditions.

Treatment options for liver cancer and disease depend on your diagnosis. Some 9/11 liver problems can be treated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, ablation, or intra-arterial therapies such as chemoembolization. Other patients may require surgery or liver transplantation.

Qualifying For 9/11 Liver Cancer Compensation

The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) provides financial compensation to individuals present in lower Manhattan between 9/11 and May 30 2002 who have since been diagnosed with live cancer. To qualify for 9/11 liver cancer compensation, individuals must file a claim before the deadline and meet the eligibility requirements outlined under the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. This includes submitting evidence of the 9/11-related condition and proof of presence in the Exposure Zone between September 11, 2001, and May 30, 2002, or at the Pentagon site or the Shanksville, PA. Individuals must also register with the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP) to have their 9/11-related health condition certified.

VCF Cancer Payouts for 9/11 Liver Cancer Patients

For individuals diagnosed with liver cancer as a result of 9/11, the VCF makes an award to compensate for pain and suffering. This compensation also adds and includes losses for past medical expenses, loss of income and benefits, and other economic losses related to the health condition. In addition.
